But first of all, what are the odds of being stranded at the airport with no light and no aircon?

And worst…WITHOUT FOOD & DRINK!

We touched down at Senai Airport , Johor almost 30 minutes earlier. It was only 11.30pm. We were all so happy that we could go home and rest earlier for Monday class.

But no, the bus which was supposed to pick us up didn’t turn up. We waited “patiently” since we touched down earlier, and the bus would eventually turn up 30 minutes later.

So what do Chinese do to pass their free time?

Suddenly at 12 plus a.m…

The light went off, followed by the aircon. The airport was CLOSED for the day! We were stunned and the airport was as quiet as cemetery, only minus the owl’s howl.

Great! 30+ lecturers and staff were stranded at the airport, exhausted and thirsty.

You think it was easy to find drinking water? NO!! Can’t even find a bl**dy vending machine at the airport. I went around to search for water. I have even gone to the police station to ask if I could find water around with my half-past-six malay. They shook their heads and said:”tak da..tak da..” (means doesn’t have)

Can’t play poker cards either because the place was so dark.

So what will you do if you are placed in a situation like this?

1) Host a trolley race. (which we almost did. Some of them were already standing on it. But we didn’t want to make a headline the next day on the newspaper: Lecturers from xxx were caught playing trolley race at the airport)
2) Complain. (which we did and later realized that it made us more thirsty)
3) Drink tap water from the toilet. (which we were so tempted to do out of desperation)
4) Act for fun. (see below)

5) Be super adventurous – visit the “waterfall”

One of the staff asked if we wanted to see “the beautiful waterfall”. And he claimed that we could only see it like..NOW.

So we followed him. As we were reaching the “waterfall”, we gasped right before the entrance of a male toilet.

Behold…the beautiful waterfall…

Picture taken by Nat. Beautiful isn’t it. For your info, this is the male urinal. I was told that it used to have swift running water that the male almost need a raincoat to pee there. (information has yet to be verified)

The bus finally came about 1 a.m.
