ninja

Wherever I go (with my shoes), people would take a look at my shoes. Some said that it looked funny and some said weird. I always call it a ninja shoe but last night, a friend of mine from Japan sent me a picture of local construction shoes. Instantly I knew that the inspiration for this design came from there – Jika-tabi.

Jika-tabi is a footwear that is worn by construction workers, gardeners and heavy-duty workers. The ‘tabi’ stands for socks that has separation between the big toe and other toes. Many workers prefer them for the softness of their soles. I like my ‘ninja’ shoes, too because it is very comfortable especially for shopping and travelling. I even wore it for rock climbing! *wink*

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find this shoe anymore. Perhaps when I go to Japan next year, I would look for Jika-tabi as the replacement. I am sure even more people will look at my shoes by then.
