I have been going ‘in-and out’ of the hospital since Thursday night. Mom was screaming in pain at 8:30pm. I freaked out and begged her to go to the hospital. She was reluctant at the first place but when she started to roll up like a ball, she knew something terrible was happening to her.

My dad thought it was food poisoning but deep down, I knew it was not as simple. We rushed to ‘our hospital’ (Note: We are so regular to the hospital that people usually tease us as it is ‘our hospital’).

Anyway, back to the topic. My mom was constantly moaning and tearing at the back of the car and we were praying so hard that nothing serious will happen to her. I really wish I can do something to make her feel better. She was sent to the emergency ward. After giving her 2 injections to ease her pain, she finally can lie down ‘flat’ on the bed.

The GP thought it might be a cyst or stone in her so we had to wait for the radiologist to come in to do the ultrasound on her.

At about 9:50pm, the radiologist came in with ‘phuket holiday t-shirt’, jeans and flip-flops. After the ultrasound, a stone (approx. 8mm) was founded at distal left ureter (just right before the bladder). The blockage had also caused my mom’s left kidney to swell. That was when the word hydronephrosis came in. The doctor advised her to see the urologist.

The next day, after meeting the urologist, he said the stone had to be removed in 72 hours if it does not pass out by itself. If the kidney kept swelling, it might even cause kidney failure. Somehow, my mom insisted on taking the medicine and will do a follow up on Monday.

However, on Saturday morning, she felt the pain again and was sent to the hospital straightaway while I was still sleeping. Her kidney continued to swell and she had to go for the operation. Unfortunately, the operation theatres were occupied till 4pm. Although she was injected (again) to ease her pain but she felt so giddy and restless. Poor thing…

Finally the stone was removed. There were actually TWO of them. Wow…and I was so glad that they gave us the video of the operation. Well, I am collecting these videos now. First I got my grandpa’s intestine video, then my sister’s endoscope video. Man…think of it, I collected these video once a month since June…Mmm…
