Finally I went to JB!
My cousins, colleagues and friends were always surprised that I had not been to Johor.
You Malaysian right?
Me: So..?
To be frank, I only been to a few states in Malaysia, not more than 5. So I decided to take a trip there despite the warning and criticism I
have heard about Johor. I want to see it by myself. However, I was still pretty cautious about what to bring and not after listening to
what my colleagues said. For example: Handbag and camera.
Watson was so kind to take me there. It was my first time travelling from one end to the other. I had to
travel for about 18 stations to reach Kranji. Kranji is very different from the other parts of Singapore. It is quieter, and has more greens. After
we reached the checkpoint, the Malaysia passport queue was super long and I took ages to clear. But when we reached the Johor checkpoint, there wasn’t
a queue at all for the Malaysia passport holders. (Because there are several autogates! This is what I am always proud of my passport!) It was my
turn to wait for Watson to clear his Singapore passport. HAH!
Once you crossed the border, you can spot the differences immediately. Even the checkpoint and. We walked to the nearest shopping mall – city plaza
for shopping.
The weirdest thing ever happened to us..
Now…this is kind of creepy. We took 50 dollars each to change to ringgit at the currency exchange counter. I took out a $50 note while Watson had five $10 notes. If you change less than $100 or using small notes, you will get a more expensive exchange rate. So we waited to exchange our $10 notes with other people instead. All the while, he held the notes on his hand. Until we met an uncle who were willing to change that $10 notes with us. We were quite pleased but when we wanted to exchange the money with the counter, we realised that we only had a 50 dollars note with us.
WHERE IS THE OTHER $50 NOTE??
We only had the $50 note from the uncle but our first $50 was nowhere to be seen. We searched up and down and we remembered seeing the $50 note in his hand but out of the sudden *poof* IT DISAPPEARED just like that! So we just changed the remain $50 and went for lunch.
Both of us can’t quite put ourselves together because we just can’t figure out how it happend. We didn’t know where we were walking and we were like dragging 2 bodies without souls. Still
scratching our head but…life has to carry on right?
Anyway, we did some shopping and I only bought a pair of shoes. I am quite fussy when it comes to clothing and that’s why I can hardly get what I want. Thus, I don’t really like shopping.
We still have fun despite the mystery of missing $50…
