A blissful weekend
I have been eating a lot since Thursday night. Had a japanese buffet and loaded myself with countless of sashimi on Thursday, pork ribs on Friday night, chinese full course lunch and etc..:P
Something that I want to share with you when I went to the immigration. There was vehicles seized by police which demonstrated how people smuggled into Singapore by modifying vehicles and hid smugglers at the hidden compartments. It was very sad and gross. Most of them were given a breathing tube when hiding under the car.
The backseats were modified to contain 2 smugglers. Both of them were give breathing tube.
"..upon opening the boot of the car, the officers discovered a set of speakers occupying the car boot. This aroused the officer’s suspicion and they decided to remove the passenger seats. They found 2 immigration offenders hiding behind the set of speakers.

It is indeed very sad that people are willing to do almost anything to survive..:(
Frances Yip’s concert

Alright..let’s talk about something blissful. It was a mother’s day concert and I was very grateful to be able to go for Frances Yip’s concert. I am not her big fan but I do know that she is a great singer. Together with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, they pulled through a fantastic concert. She was older than I expected but still, her voice enchanted every one of us.
8000 people!! And the tickets were sold out! Can’t get a good view of the stage though…the good seats sold out very fast..:(

Can’t see her either..:(

I love when she sings ‘Memories’. I love all her english songs. She can speak good english, mandarin and of course cantonese. The way she speaks (english) reminded me of Julie Andrew. Her pronouncation…her lips..She spoke quite a bit of cantonese though. At that moment, I was glad that I can understand cantonese and was able to laugh at her jokes *wink*
Taxi MADNESS!!
You won’t believe this.
We knew that at least third of the audience probably need to catch a cab. We left slightly earlier to avoid the jam and the taxi queue. We expected to see long queue of people and taxis in front of the stadium, but guess what, there wasn’t any taxi and queue in sight! Everyone was looking for taxi frantically everywhere. I came across a lady driver reading newspaper in her cab. As I approached her, she gave me a very cold look and didn’t even bother to look at me. Then another old lady approached her and asked at least she could help us by telling us where the taxi stand was. She said:"Aiyar, you don’t need to look for cab anywhere lar! They won’t drive in (stadium) here one lar!!"
What do you mean they don’t drive in here?? You mean they were hiding somewhere???
Later then I remembered that they might be waiting for passengers to call for service. You know when you call to book a taxi, you need to pay an extra of $4 or $2.50..depending on the hours. No wonder all the taxis were hiding somewhere.
We were so frustrated and we didn’t want to look elsewhere…so I just called to book a taxi. The system said I had to wait for 5-8 minutes. But as I expected, the taxi reached within 2 minutes. Sure he was hiding somewhere very near to us..Argh…what to do..???
Shocking indeed…:(
