I am not sure why my level of intelligence seems to ‘fluctuate’ a lot these days. Some days I was super smart and some days (very bad day), I was just being very. very. dumb!

On Saturday, Natasha finally took her cat “Forrest” Ah Pui (fat in Hokkien) to my house. Forrest is such a friendly cat! No matter how hard I stroked his head, belly and ears, he just didn’t react or reject me. Anyway…

5 minutes after Natasha and Forrest left, my left eye started to itch real bad. There was a bump hidden underneath my eyelid and I was totally freaked out. “Oh no, am I allergic to cat??”

So I smsed Natasha, knowing that she had the same allergic reaction to cat fur before.

“Nat! My eye is swollen! What ointment did you use before?”

Ya ya, I know I was dumb. Didn’t understand why I sms-ed instead of calling her. Not because I was cheapskate ok? It just didn’t cross my mind.

She replied:”Oh, I used tiger balm.”

“Huh? You put tiger balm on your eye?”

“No!! On my arm..”

At this point, I thought the last time she had an allergic reaction on her arm instead. So being super “smart”, I thought, may be, it helped if I applied the tiger balm on my eyelid. Just a little..it won’t hurt..

Note: This is a very dangerous stunt which can only be performed by professionals – do not imitate.

Ya..Smart…

You know, it did help to relief the itchiness because……… MY EYELID WAS BURNING IN PAIN!

And being so “smart”, I told myself:”Well, I’ll just hang on to it. I am sure the burning will go away.”

But IT DIDN’T!!

I started to tear. Then I realised that I had to rinse my eyelid.

Finally, my brain started to work and was able to function properly. I ran to my medical box for my beloved Zyrtec pill (anti-histamine). Popped one pill and the swell subsided after 20 mins. GAH!!!

And just 3 hours ago, she told me that she thought I was asking her what ointment she applied when she came to my house. It was just happened that she applied some tiger balm on her arm and thought I was allergic to it. Sigh….

The most “intelligent” conversation of the month:

Window shopping at Bugis Junction…

Friend: See that man?

Me: Yup. Why?

Friend: That is called “neurofibromatosis“.

Me: Neu-ro…what??

Friend: Neuro-fibromatosis

Me: Neu-ro-fi….what sis??

Friend: Neu-ro, fi-bro, ma, to, sis. It’s genetic.

Me: I see..I’ve worked with them before. Some people are afraid of them. They said I shouldn’t be near to them. But I know it is not trasmittable.

Friend: Yes. It’s a genetic disorder.

Me: So, is it a dominant or recessive gene that carries the trait?

Friend: Mm…it should be dominant because it affects the first-degree relatives.

Me: It seems to me that most of the guys have it. Is it a sex-linked inheritance?

Friend: No, it’s not. It is mapped to…er..some chromosome, can’t remember which one.

Note: my “intelligent” question and the “proper” lingo that I have used.

On a side note, how do you define “nerd”? I mean, we always hear people comment:”Man..he is such a nerd..”

But what exactly is “nerdy”? I was a nerd back in my schooling years and I believe I am still one. (The fact that I can still remember what the disorder is called and in exact spelling after so long. Am I nerdy or wat?)

Some people think they are nerdy because they are not COOL.

So WHAT IS COOL then?

Talking about how “wise” this guy has spent RM54,000 for his marriage proposal, I do, have a moment like this.

At lunch today, looking at how my boss eating his dessert.

“Boss, how do you clean your moustache? Do you shampoo it?”

My colleagues almost spilled their food.

Also moustache related. This happened last year.

Looking at my colleague’s moustache,“So, how often do you cut your moustache?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, it’d keep growing if you don’t cut it, wouldn’t it?”

Sometimes I admire myself for asking such “fantastic” questions.

From tomorrow onwards, I will be travelling for work very frequently. Well, it would be exciting and I am looking forward to it…FOR NOW. Though I may not know how it is going to affect my life, it is worth a try.

I will be flying to Penang tomorrow at 8am and fly back the very same day at 9pm. I know it sounds crazy but I think I am going to travel like this for the next few months on the weekends.
