“What Fila ah?? Stamp say stamp lah!! “
Ok..I went to a stamp exhibition on Sunday after church. I can’t remember the last time I looked at my own stamp album. But since my friend has asked me along, why not..?
The main hall

I started collecting stamps when I was 5 years old and I have 5 albums altogether. Stamp collecting almost caused rivalry among sisters and cousins back then because my grandparents were more likely to give their ‘antique’ stamps to their favourite grandchild (and I was the favourite kid..grin). There was always fighting if one of us found our granddad gave the other a ‘special’ stamp.
I guarded my albums with heart and soul, and always locked and hid them in my special chest. I hid my chest key, too. Often, I cried to look for my key instead.
So I gave up when I was 10 years old. First, it was because of my hectic school work. Secondly, we grew up and have stopped being childish over a piece of ‘rotten stamp’.
Visiting the museum has definitely brought back my memories. Even though I am not any great philatelist (just say stamp collector lah!), I did enjoy reading facts and history about the stamps.
This is my favourite. In fact, I love everything “Swarovsky”.

From Bhutan: These are “talking stamps”, issued in 1973. They had native folk songs recorded on one side and could be played on a record player.

There were 4 rooms altogether and each room was decorated with themes. One of them featured WWII and exhibited some of the letters written by the soldiers to their families. It was heart-breaking indeed. However, I found an amused letter from Bob Howlett, Department of tourism – singapore and federation of malaya.
“Hi folks. This is Bob Howlett ( see and shudder, right hand top)….how would you like to have the job of keeping an even balance between two great tourist attractions? I’m talking about the countries not the gals, you dills!”Sounds fun to work with Bob…
The following room was my favourite. It featured how 3 races (chinese, malay and indian) traveled to singapore in the olden days and also their jobs back then. I was more engrossed in the decoration instead…

I always found bolster irresistible *Ahhhhh bolster…..I can’t live without you*

Waiting to get my clogs fixed.

After I posted this picture on friendster, some of my friends thought the uncle was real and asked if I really owned a pair of clogs. *grin*
Objective achieved.
